Systemic advocacy reports

Under the Guardianship and Administration Act 2000 (opens in new window), the Public Advocate may provide reports about systemic issues to the Minister, who must table the reports in Parliament.

The following systemic advocacy reports have been tabled in Parliament since the introduction of this provision in November 2012.

The systemic report Supporting parents with cognitive disability- the need for reform (PDF, 1.4 MB) was tabled in Parliament on 9 June 2025.

The systemic advocacy report, Adult Safeguarding in Queensland, Volume 2: Reform recommendations (PDF, 839.3 KB), was tabled in Parliament on 8 December 2022.

The systemic advocacy report, Preserving the financial futures of vulnerable Queenslanders: A review of Public Trustee fees, charges and practices (PDF, 17.6 MB), was tabled in Parliament on 10 March 2021.

The Public Advocate also released an Executive Summary (PDF, 737.5 KB) and List of Recommendations (PDF, 464.1 KB) based on the report.

The systemic advocacy report, Upholding the right to life and health: A review of the deaths in care of people with disability - in Queensland,  (PDF, 2.3 MB)was tabled in Parliament on 16 March 2016.

On 16 March 2016, the Public Advocate issued a statement regarding the report (PDF, 348.9 KB).

The systemic advocacy report, Decision-making support and Queensland’s guardianship system, (PDF, 2.3 MB) was tabled in Parliament on 15 June 2016. This report was preceded by four documents prepared by the Public Advocate, which are available here (PDF, 1.6 MB).

On 16 June 2016, the Public Advocate issued a statement regarding the report (PDF, 411.7 KB).

The systemic advocacy report, Inquiry into the use of electronic monitoring at disability accommodation sites in Queensland (PDF, 1.6 MB)was released during Privacy Awareness Week (4‐10 May) in 2014. The report was tabled in Parliament on 21 May 2014.
