Adult Safeguarding Proposal

The Public Advocate has proposed a draft Adult Support and Safeguarding Act (PDF, 780.5 KB) for Queensland. The proposal constitutes one way in which Queensland might remedy the current adult safeguarding ‘investigation gap’ that exists when an adult is clearly at risk but where there is no medical emergency or obvious evidence of a crime having been committed. The proposal would also enable Queensland to embrace the adult guardianship reforms proposed by the Disability Royal Commission.
